This just about sums everything about the model, and i hope you will like it. The standard creator style wheels can be added for higher play value at the expanse of the display value, and are featured in the instructions as an alternative. I chose the old-school tires, and while they roll fine in my opinion, they aren't as playable or as common as the standard creator-style wheels. The model rolls quite smoothly, and features an easily removable roof. I came up with some interesting solutions to create some details like the tail light assembly, the rear fenders, and the roof, but i am pretty happy with the end result, as it captured almost all of the car's design details.Īnother goal i set in the late stages of development is high play value: despite being a nice display piece, i wanted the model to be rigid, and have some play value.

The rear end of the vehicle was perhaps the biggest challenge to recreate in lego form, as its just so steep in shape and full of tiny details. I built the front in a modular fashion, so modifying it or replacing it can be done easily. Many small details were implemented to make the model true to life, such as the hidden windshield wipers and the curve behind the front wheel arch. The tricky part about this car, is that its front is very smooth in form and short in height. The front end looks quite simplistic, but is in fact complex from the inside. I thus used a 1/24 model kit of the car to get a good comparative index, as 8-wide cars are roughly 1/24-1/25 scale. In the development of this model, i understood that having accurate proportions and profile is crucial if i want the model to be instantly recognizable for what it is. The only "illegal" tech i used is painting the front reflectors with a silver sharpie, as they are very important for the front fascia look in my opinion. The model is 100% legal, and uses all original lego parts. This is an 8-wide model of the face lifted design (DS20-DS23 style).
